Day 20: Bern to Interlaken

We woke up around 7:30 today. The church bells rang over 100 times so it was hard to stay sleeping. We ate breakfast, packed up and were on the train to Interlaken by 10:04.

Mary slept most of the way. Jeff listened to music and took a few pictures of the approach. Here is one looking towards Interlaken on the west side of Lake Thun:

We arrived in Interlaken after roughly an hour on the train. On the walk to our hostel we saw para-gliders landing on the big open grass field/park area near our hostel. We arrived at the hostel and stowed our bags.

After a short walk we had some lunch, peanut butter and jam. We picked these spreads up for free from the Bern hostel. Jeff would not go buying it from here. Peanut butter is roughly 4fr. for 300g.

Once our lunch was done we did some shopping. Mary bought a souvenir for herself while Jeff stood around idly looking at the souvenirs. They were mostly overpriced. Once the browsing was finished we walked back to the hostel and checked in. Here is a picture looking roughly south:

We are giving our feet a rest now before we go off to make dinner, Mary is almost asleep. Jeff will likely spend some time searching the fridges for food marked as free.

Tomorrow we plan on heading up the Jongfraujoch. The weather report is calling for light rain sometime during the day and sun for 20-50% of the day. We are hoping for a clear sky when we reach the top.
